Stella Coultas - Art of Light and Shadow
Playing with light and shadow is what motivates and inspires me. My creative process is very much influenced by how the ambient light interacts with each piece I make. The pieces are shaped using wire and batting and layered to create a 3-dimensional surface. The work is supported by a cradled wood panel or canvas background. The sculptures are supported by their own inner wires.
In addition to the constructed pieces, I make temporary assemblages which I photograph under natural lighting. The resulting photographs are printed on a variety of substrates in a range of sizes.
